LINDIS LODGE
Te rerenga
o maunga
JUL - NOV 2019

The design of Te Rerenga O Maunga is formed by robotically prefabricated double-layered timber laths and asymmetrical arches. The undulating roof structure is a direct representation and response to the mountain range and natural landscape of the site.
The arrangement of grid patterns on the designed surfaces is a key issue concerning the design of the grid shell structure.
Besides the limitation by the bending performance of materials, the obtainable form of traditional gridshells form-finding method simulation of the bending process is strictly limited by the initial flat grids. Therefore the parametric design method is introduced to the design and simulation process.
